For experienced painters and those who have been on my other courses, using two session blocks we focus on a well known artist, a famous painting or technique and explore how it can inform our own style. There are short presentations covering art history, demonstrations, group discussions and critiques with the emphasis on encouraging and informing each other of our own artistic discoveries as well as working in our chosen mediums. The focus on the first, third and fifth class includes an introduction to a well-known artist or painting and a creative challenge which will incorporate an aspect of their work. The second, fourth and sixth class is used to complete the challenge, start our own unique piece and critique each project. The mission (should you choose to accept!) is designed to complement and challenge the way you already work and dovetails in with the Artynoons if you need more time for further exploration. In 2014 we looked at Vincent Van Gogh, David Hockney and John Singer Sargent.
